This delicate teacup with matching saucer celebrates the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, or Mounties-the federal law enforcement for Canada that was founded in 1873. With their handsome uniform consisting of dark blue breeches with gold strappings, black leather riding boots & red military jacket these mounties are true equestrians at heart & some of the finest horsemen & women in the country. Although actual horses are no longer used (just like the U.S. Cavalry) officially, mounted officers can still be found in the Musical Ride as well as several municipal & provincial detachments. Made from the finest bisque porcelain with delicate transferware details & hand-decorated gold trim this set is in excellent condition. No manufacture stamps or marks, C 1960s, sold as a pair only.
