One for the collectors: a 1976-dated Swiss Army backpack or folio bag, in as-new condition. A museum-worthy backpacks; in storage for nearly 50 years & is as crisp & new-looking as the day it was made! This very unusual & cleverly designed backpack was intended to transport larger maps. Inside, there are two pieces of thick cardboard- like material in the same colour as the leather. Documents are placed between them to be kept flat & protected from the elements. These days would possibly make a good folio bag for creatives; to carry drawings or art works. The crisp canvas is the classic ‘salt & pepper’ type & the saddle leather is thick & beautifully clean. The stamp is found on a patch where the top of the back straps meet. The maker is Joseph Friedl from Marbach, Luzern & the date is 1976. Photo 10 shows the instructions for use, which do not belong to this bag, but which I found in a used, already sold model, dated 1956. DIMENSIONS: Length 52.5cm (20.7) Height 42cm (16.5) Depth 4cm (1.6) Weight approx. 2.5kg CONDITION: The bag has never been used. It smells fresh, with that lovely genuine leather smell. The front is still lying flat; the pockets have never been opened! The canvas is unmarked, even from storage. - SHIPPING The shipping price includes a tracking number & insurance.
